Issue with the filming process

Image
Since it started raining today, we were unable to film outside. Our film opening consists of walking on the sidewalk, so we were unable to record this portion of the film. Tyler was also unable to make it to the filming session, so we need to postpone the filming session to tomorrow night. We hope the weather will be fine and that we will be able to film tomorrow so that we can hurry up and edit and finish our blogs. We also must work on the CCR after we film, so we still have much to do.

Starting the film

Image
Today, it is the last day of spring break and we are planning on filming our film opening tonight. We have our plan set up on how we are going to do this, and we have also completed the full script. We found a good filming location in a neighborhood and the lighting is perfect for our scenario. We plan to do our scenes in a local neighborhood with street lights to capture the suspense meant to be felt when seeing that I am being kidnapped. We also plan on using Tyler's garage to film the rope and chair scene, and we have finalized our film plan. We aim to finish the film tonight and edit tomorrow and add the proper music, edit our cuts and transitions, and complete our film opening process. We hope that we can finish both the film and the editing portion by tomorrow or sometime this week to then be able to work on the next portion. We have our materials and are ready to film.

Script Development

Today in class, I discussed with Tyler about the script for our film opening and how much dialogue we should include. We realized that we need to cut down on our dialogue since it may take too much time from the entire duration of our film so we are going to keep it simple and include only a few lines, which also builds the tension for the film. The lack of dialogue helps express the action and thrill meant to be felt and it keeps our length at a minimum. We discussed the general idea of our script and will come up with our full script during Spring Break and create a professional dialogue. Our script consists of not talking until I am unmasked in the garage and I am being questioned, where Matthew starts and says, "Why did you do it?" I will respond with, "I have no idea what you are talking about," and Tyler will follow up with, "We know you are lying. Tell us the truth!" I will respond with, "I didn't do anything, just let me go." While t...

Discussing the Plot

Image
Before filming our film this following weekend, my groupmates and I discussed the basic plot of the film opening and planned out how the composition and how it is going to go. I talked to Tyler and Matthew about the basic concept and how it will start with establishing shots of the neighborhood that I am walking in, and the setting of nighttime. Then, it is going to transition me into me as the main character walking down the sidewalk texting a person on my phone with a low angle showing my face and holding the phone and then a cut to a POV of me looking down at my phone texting. After that, Tyler will put a rag on my face and Matthew will pick me up. It will then have a cut transition where it seems to cut to black but it will actually be the inside of the garage at night. We will then turn on the lights to show the setting and I will be tied on the chair with tape on my mouth. Matthew will take off the tape and then I will say, "Who are you? What do you want from me?" They ...

Plot/costumes of our film

Image
Plot/costumes of our film For our film called "The Kidnapping," my group members and I have decided on a plot and filming location. We want to start with the main protagonist (me) walking down a dimly lit sidewalk that is very late at night and then a surprise kidnapping occurs. We plan to effectively set a suspenseful and climactic mood with the usage of this lighting since it is going to be frightful for the viewer and interesting to watch. We plan for me to walk down the sidewalk while texting a person and then all of a sudden, I get a cloth put over my face and kidnapped. Matthew and Tyler would then reveal themselves in a garage and I am going to break free and escape valiantly. The props we decided upon were a rope to tie me onto the chair, a cloth for the kidnapping, masks for the kidnappers (Tyler and Matthew), duct tape, and also a wooden chair. Matthew and Tyler would dress as kidnappers accordingly and wear black outfits that would match the vibe and overall mood o...

Basic necessities for our Opening

Image
Basic necessities for our Opening For our film, we have decided upon the name "The Kidnapping." We have also decided on the various items and peripherals needed for us to be able to effectively capture our film as well as the audio. We are going to use iPhones to record the film as we believe they provide efficient camera quality, and we may also decide to use microphones if necessary. Our film is going to consist of the cast list of me, Matthew, and Tyler and I am going to be the main protagonist who enters the conflict between the kidnappers of my two groupmates. We have also decided upon the music that we plan to use which would include suspenseful music that leads up to the climax of a fight and also intense action music used during the scene of the fight.

Mood Boards

Image
Moodboard This mood board shows our action film and the aspects the film will contain. The mood board shows the props of a chair, rope, and duct tape since we are doing a fight scene after a kidnapping scene. There is also a dark environment which is where our film starts off and there will also be a dark garage area where the action will take place. The characters will be me, Matthew, or Tyler with a robber mask to hide their faces.
